After attending a high-level regional security summit in Accra, Ghana, with the goal of promoting peace and stability throughout West Africa, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has returned to Liberia.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival, President Boakai emphasized the significance of tight coordination between the sub-region’s nations in order to avert security risks before they become major crises. He pointed out that because West African countries share borders, histories, and obligations, no nation can be safe while its neighbors are under danger.
The Liberian leader stressed that nations must continue to be vigilant and proactive in addressing possible threats since instability in one country can quickly spread to another. He underlined that regional gatherings like the one in Ghana give leaders a crucial forum to share information, evaluate new risks, and decide on coordinated tactics.
Citing recent events as proof that no nation is totally immune, President Boakai further cautioned that security issues, particularly terrorism, are becoming more common in the region. He claims that in order to comprehend the underlying causes of these risks and create efficient solutions, ongoing communication and collaborative planning are essential.
