The Secretariat of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will host an AI Case Innovation Competition and Study Visit for African Youth in order to further strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, promotes the development and practical empowerment of young talent in the field of artificial intelligence, and create a bridge for mutual learning and shared development among Chinese and African youth.
The competition which will be held under the theme “AI for a Smarter Future, China and Africa Advancing Together on a New Journey,” young people from African nations are encouraged to take part in a broad solicitation of AI application cases. It is expected to commence from now until May 29 follow by an Evaluation: May 30 to June 12.
These cases may focus on public well-being, scientific and technological advancement, industrial application, cultural exchanges, and talent development. The goal is to choose AI application practices that exhibit innovation, exemplary value, and potential for wider replication. A case collection will be created from the chosen entries. Outstanding representatives will be invited to China for study tours and exchange events, and award winners will receive certificates and prizes. The following are the main locations for submitting a case:
Public well-being: creative AI application techniques that boost public services’ effectiveness,
Scientific and Technological Progress: AI-enabled improvements in scientific research, findings transfer and application, and practical implementation that support technological progress and the creation of an innovative ecosystem.
Industrial Application: AI’s practical investigation in enabling the digital transformation of established sectors, supporting new business models, and advancing the growth of the digital economy.
Cultural Exchanges: The use and integration of AI in creating cross-cultural interactions, innovative cultural communication, and reciprocal learning between civilizations.
Exploration of AI-enabled education, with a focus on improving digital literacy, supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and strengthening skills training, so as to foster comprehensive qualities and practical capabilities suited to future industrial development.
Other Areas: AI application and innovation practices that are forward-looking, comprehensive, or with a focus on cross-sector integration.
This competition is open to youth from African countries, including university students, young researchers from research institutions, young representatives from start-ups and innovation teams, young professionals in artificial intelligence and related fields, as well as other young people engaged in AI application practice or demonstrating innovation potential and practical experience.
China and Africa have a long-standing bond that has only gotten stronger over time, as such, 2026 is both the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and African nations.
Artificial intelligence is giving China-Africa friendship and collaboration new life against the background of a new era of technological revolution and industrial change.
