SEGAL Welcomes Nigerian Defense College Delegation to Liberia

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the Security Expert Guard Agency of Liberia (SEGAL) welcomed the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Nigeria, who are presently in Liberia as part of the 2025 African Study Tour.

The visit centered on the theme “Harnessing Community-Led Security Initiatives for Enhanced National Security.”

The delegation was led by Brigadier General E.A. Orakwe, Director of Administration and team leader, along with representatives from the Ministry of National Defense and the ECOWAS Advisory Training Team. It included senior officers, directing staff, and forty-six students, including one foreign participant from Ghana.

Speaking at the event, Marcus N.D. Kumwh, Acting General Manager of SEGAL, thanked the Ministry of National Defense for choosing SEGAL from among Liberia’s private security organizations for the study engagement and characterized the visit as a forum to strengthen collaboration between private security organizations and state security actors.

SEGAL Security Manager Dave S. Freeman presented the company’s history, goals, legal framework, range of services, and operational tactics in a number of in-depth talks, the agency’s work in post-conflict Liberia; noting its emergence as a premier private security provider handling physical security, electronic surveillance, high-risk operations, and critical national infrastructure protection.

Freeman highlighted SIGAL’s (SEGAL’s) long-standing partnership with major national and international clients, including its uninterrupted service to ArcelorMittal since 2006.

He emphasized the agency’s expanding footprint in close protection, private investigations, electronic security solutions such as CCTV monitoring, biometric access systems, alarm response, and GPS tracking.

Speaking on behalf of the AFCSC Commandant, Air Vice Marshal conveyed appreciation for Liberia’s warm hospitality and SEGAL’s openness in sharing practical experiences in community-based security approaches.

“This interaction is essential. Security cannot be complete without the involvement of the grassroots. We are here to learn how Liberia, through agencies such as SEGAL, connects communities to national security,” Marshal narrated.

Also speaking, SEGAL Senior Finance Officer, Francis K. Zazay, expressed confidence that the tour would strengthen partnerships and inspire new strategies for collaborative security across West Africa.

The visit is part of a broader AFCSC program that exposes senior military students to regional realities, enabling them to study and compare national structures in governance, defense, economics, and civil-military cooperation.d
