Geo-Mining and Inter-Geo Urge Modern Tech to Unlock Liberia’s Mineral and Petroleum Potential

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Executive Director of Geo-Mining and Environmental Consultancy, Carlos Edison-Tingban has warned that outdated exploration techniques are restricting investment and leaving a large portion of Liberia’s natural resource wealth undiscovered.

Speaking Wednesday during the Exhibition of Advanced Mineral, Oil, and Gas Finding Technologies, which was jointly held in Monrovia by Inter-Geo Mineral Intelligence Limited and Geo-Mining and Environmental Consultancy Incorporated, Tingban said Liberia is rich in iron ore, gold, diamonds, lithium, heavy mineral sands, and offshore petroleum. But large areas remain underexplored due to poor geological data.

He said the global industry is already moving forward with AI, remote sensing, airborne geophysics, geochemical surveys, and advanced detection systems. These tools, he noted, make exploration more accurate, less expensive, faster, and less damaging to the environment.

“Our goal isn’t just to bring in new equipment, It is to make sure Liberians are trained to run these technologies, lead projects, and compete in the global mining and petroleum industry.”

He urged the Government of Liberia, investors, universities, and mining and oil companies to work together on technology transfer, capacity building, and responsible investment to manage the country’s resources sustainably.

‎Tingban also highlighted the partnership between Geo-Mining and Inter-Geo as a platform to bring new technologies to Liberia while creating jobs and training opportunities for Liberian professionals.

‎Also speaking, Deputy Minister for Administration and Acting Minister of Mines and Energy, Eudora Bay-Pritchard, disclosed that digital innovation is key to improving exploration and building better geological data.

She encouraged attendees to use the conference to share ideas, build partnerships, and learn about tools that can help position Liberia as a competitive mining destination.

Speaking on behalf of Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cllr. Jeddi Armah, lamented that economic diplomacy will be critical to attracting investment and technology to the mining and energy sectors.

‎“The government is prioritizing investments that build Liberian expertise, strengthen institutions, and create long-term value,” Armah said. “Our future prosperity depends on strong institutions, responsible management of resources, investor confidence, and partnerships that deliver real benefits.”

‎The conference brought together government ministries, Geo-Mining, Inter-Geo, and experts from Australia and the United States. They demonstrated technologies already in use globally to cut exploration time and costs while improving discovery rates.

‎Participants agreed that adopting these tools could accelerate Liberia’s efforts to unlock its natural resources and drive sustainable economic growth.
