GoL Terminates Previous 35 Yellow Machine Deal, Says no Plans to Negotiate

Monrovia, Liberia: The Minister of Information, Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah has announced that the Government of Liberia is expected to return the 35 yellow machines previously brought into the country, clarifying that there are no plans to renegotiate the earlier purchase agreement.

Speaking during the Ministry regular press briefing on Thursday, Minister Piah said, the government has since terminated the initial procurement process and has entered into negotiations with a new vendor from China.

He added that equipment under the new arrangement is expected to arrive in Liberia in soon.The machines, which arrived in the country were publicly displayed by Minister of State Without Portfolio Mamaka Bility in the presence of other government officials in 2024.

At the time of their arrival, the procurement terms and overall contractual arrangement were unclear, raising questions about transparency and value for money.
