MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Government of Liberia has signed a new agreement with BRAC Liberia to expand education, skills training, and economic opportunities for adolescent girls and young women across the country.
The Accelerating Impact for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AIM) Program, which is carried out by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with BRAC Liberia and supported by the Mastercard Foundation, is covered by the Memorandum of Understanding.
The program is aim at helping girls stay in school, finish their education, and acquire useful skills for employment and future research.
The program seeks to promote girls through: Education and alternative learning,Entrepreneurship and job readiness training, Life skills and financial support, Improved teaching and learning resources among others.
During the first phase, an estimated 40,600 teenage girls from 300 secondary schools will be reached and will last until 2030.
Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Grand Gedeh, Bong, Nimba, Lofa, and Margibi are among the counties covered.
Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, Minister of Education, commended the collaboration during the signing ceremony adding that the initiative is essential for keeping girls in school and giving them future-ready skills.
The Ministry of Education will provide policy leadership, coordination, and oversight. BRAC Liberia and participating schools will support day-to-day implementation.
