Present Boakai Receives 2026 National Infrastructure Report, Cite Important of Coordination

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has received the formal report from the 2026 National Infrastructure Conference during today’s cabinet meeting at the Executive Mansion.

The Minister Roland Giddings in his presentation of the document, emphasized the conference’s inclusive and consultative nature, pointing out that it brought together engineers, urban planners, policymakers, and international partners to evaluate issues and suggest workable solutions for the development of sustainable infrastructure.

He outlines that the goals aimed at boosting Liberia’s infrastructure development agenda and summarizes important discussions and suggestions from stakeholders in the public and private sectors as well as development partners. Road connection, urban planning, drainage systems, public facilities, and the fortification of regulatory frame.

President Boakai receiving the document commended recommendations from the report and highlighted the important of coordinated planning and execution prove to addressing the nation’s infrastructure demands stating that the conference’s conclusions will be a useful manual for forming policy, choices and coordinating national priorities with current and upcoming development projects.

President Boakai emphasized the increasing difficulties brought on by the fast urban population growth, especially in Monrovia, pointing out that the population boom from roughly 350,000 to over 1.5 million has put a burden on infrastructure and basic services.

He cautioned that uncontrolled building, particularly in alleys and unapproved areas, is causing traffic jams, flooding, and increasing strain on vital services like electricity, water, schools, and healthcare. The President emphasized that while zoning and building regulations have not changed, compliance is still a significant problem.

The Liberia Leader noted that in order to guarantee that infrastructure projects are carried out effectively and satisfy the requirements of the Liberian people, the necessity of cooperation among all stakeholders.

The 2026 National Infrastructure Conference, the first in Liberia since the war, was a component of the government’s continuous attempts to improve service delivery and fortify national development plans through resilient and contemporary infrastructure systems meet the needs of the Liberian people.
